John Terry is the most deserving captain in Chelsea history

Terry won the UEFA Player of the Year award in 2005, 2008 and 2009, the PFA Player of the Year award in 2005, and was named in the FIFPro World XI for five consecutive seasons, winning it five times from 2005 to 2009. He was named in the 2006 FIFA World Cup All-Star team, becoming the only English player to do so, and was inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2024.
Terry is one of Chelsea's most successful captains. During his 19 years with the club, he won five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Europa League and one Champions League. He is also one of only six players to have made 500 appearances for Chelsea, and is the club's all-time leading goalscorer.
After leaving Chelsea, he spent one season with Aston Villa in the Championship before retiring from football on 7 October 2018. He was linked with a move to Tottenham after leaving Aston Villa, but the move was postponed due to family reasons. He later returned to Aston Villa as assistant manager to Dean Smith, leading the team to promotion to the Premier League after reaching the 2019 Championship play-off final. However, he resigned in 2021 and was reappointed as manager by Smith in 2023.

The tall defender excels in the air, He is a prolific defender who can block passes and high balls, and is a threat to the team in the penalty area from either side. Throughout his career, he has been known for his leadership and courage, as well as his ability to hold back the defence. In his prime, he was considered one of the best defenders in the world, one of the best centre-backs of his generation, and one of the best defenders in England and the Premier League.
